Background
Anthony graduated from St Peter’s College, Oxford University with a 1st class Honours degree in English literature and language in 1990 and initially intended to pursue a career in journalism, having edited ISIS magazine at Oxford university as an undergraduate. A chance visit to the Old Bailey, the historic law courts in London immediately convinced him that a career as a Criminal Barrister was the only path in life to follow. Anthony trained at the Inns of Court School of Law and was called to the Inner Temple as a Barrister in 1994.
Initially Anthony trained as a pupil barrister in London chambers before moving to the north of England and practicing in criminal law as a barrister at Exchange Chambers in Manchester. Anthony remains a tenant at Exchange chambers.
In 2007, following a family holiday, Anthony emigrated to Perth, Western Australia where he has lived ever since. Having spent a year at the University of Western Australia where he was re-programmed, Anthony spent a year at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as a senior state prosecutor. Despite being offered the role of Acting Consultant State Prosecutor, Anthony resigned and returned to private practice as a specialist criminal barrister. He spent several years at Francis Burt chambers before leaving to co-found his own set of barristers chambers, Equus Chambers in the central business district of the city. Equus Chambers is a small set of barristers chambers where members practice exclusively in criminal law at all levels of gravity.
